Suzanne founded Cara Hotel Marketing in 2004. She’s an industry expert with a vast experience of the travel industry across the UK, Irish and European markets. Suzanne cut her teeth in her family’s travel agency business in Dublin, Ireland, where she set up a very successful long haul division. After a brief encounter with the banking sector, she was drawn back to travel and spent almost a decade in senior sales roles for hotels and resorts in the Caribbean, Mexico and Africa.

Now based in Singapore, Suzanne supports the strategic direction of the company with a focus on building our client portfolio and project work in Asia & the Indian Ocean.

With over 25 years’ experience in the travel industry, James enjoys a vast wealth of knowledge and a long track-record of delivering commercial success for our partners and clients. He began his career in travel at Thomson Holidays, initially on the Graduate Management Scheme, and ultimately in the long-haul product department where he was responsible for the Caribbean and Mexico. He then left tour operating and after a number of years working for hotels and resorts across the Caribbean, Mexico and Florida, he teamed up with Suzanne in 2005 to build the company to the success that it is today.

As Managing Director, James leads the strategic direction of the company and our clients with a focus upon strategic partnerships, commercial planning, and stakeholder management. He is just as passionate about our clients’ businesses as he is about our own. Believing that one size does not fit all, James excels at formulating innovative strategies as the foundation for long-term commercial partnerships that generate revenue growth, profit and a return on investment every time.

Paul joined Cara in 2010 from the Product & Contracting team at UK tour operator, Trailfinders. With 20 years’ experience in the industry and a passion for the Caribbean, Mexico and Indian Ocean, he has an outstanding knowledge of the UK & European markets and a strong track record of delivering exceptional results for our clients.

In his current role of Deputy Managing Director, Paul passionately leads the wider team to ensure effective delivery of our clients’ commercial strategies, whilst taking the lead on all integration and connectivity projects with our tour operator partners. His ambition is that our clients are fully connected in the UK market by the end of 2025 and in the European segment by 2027.

Paul has been instrumental in the creation and rollout of Cara’s Mission Statement, Vision Statement and Core Values, and serves as the company’s ambassador to ensure that the team work with these in mind every day.

Lizzie spent a number of years working for Tiffany & Co before her passion for travel and all things Mexican led her to pursue a career in the travel industry. She joined the team as Sales & Marketing Executive in 2014, which was followed by three successful years as a Senior Manager in the Commercial Team. In 2019, she was promoted to her current Director role and is responsible for implementing and overseeing the top-line sales, marketing and business development strategies for tour operator and other trade partners on behalf of our clients. A talented and dynamic leader, she manages a diverse team who are tasked with securing the best possible opportunities to incrementally drive sales from the UK & European markets.

Edouard joined the team in 2015 from UK tour operator Kuoni, where he was the Contracting Manager for Mauritius, Seychelles, Spanish Caribbean and Middle East. As Director of Commercial, Edouard oversees the implementation and management of our clients’ revenue management strategies across the UK & European markets, with the aim of increasing sales and maximising ADR. With excellent negotiation skills, strategic and analytical insight and a strong understanding of the competitive environment, Edouard provides high quality, results-driven leadership to Cara’s Commercial Team and ensures that we are consistently delivering first-rate results for our clients.

Edouard also holds primary responsibility for annual contracting with key partners on behalf of our clients, including TUI Group. He works closely with each of their senior purchasing teams to deliver mutually beneficial and successful relationships.

Sandra’s career in the industry started with a 3-year apprenticeship at a DERPART travel agency in Germany, giving her an official certification and a deep understanding of how travel agents work. This was followed by a degree in Business & Tourism Management. After a year abroad in New Zealand, Sandra moved back to Germany and joined the Cara team in 2021. She soon realised her heart lies with the travel agent community and has since transitioned into the position of Business Development Executive, which has given her the opportunity to truly flourish.

Whilst she calls Rhine-Westphalia her home, Sandra is almost constantly out on-the-road building awareness, knowledge and loyalty for our clients’ brands and resorts to the German, Austrian & Swiss travel trade. Originally from Italy, Silvia studied Foreign Languages at the University of Bologna before moving to the UK in 2015. She gained invaluable experience working in hotels and latterly at Tripadvisor before joining the Cara team in 2017. Promoted to a Manager role in 2019, Silvia now enjoys a unique position that crosses both the Commercial and Sales functions of the business.

As Commercial Manager, Silvia is responsible for implementing revenue management strategies for our clients’ resorts in Jamaica, St Lucia, Mexican Pacific & Latin America; she works closely with their on-property sales teams to increase revenue, maximise ADR and grow share in the UK & European markets. As Sales & Marketing Manager, Silvia proudly looks after the relationships with our Italian tour operator partners, sourcing and securing the best possible opportunities in this market on behalf of our clients.

Part of the Cara team since 2021, Richard has enjoyed a long and successful career in the industry. Starting over 25 years ago as a ski rep in the French Alps, he moved back to the UK and has since enjoyed Product, Marketing and Commercial roles with tour operators including Crystal Holidays, Sovereign Luxury Travel, Holiday-Malta, YouTravel and JTA Travel.

He ensures they’re always one step ahead of their competition and that we’re maximising the promotional opportunities available to them through our vast network of distribution and relationships.

With a self-confessed love of numbers, Richard also takes keen responsibility for the creation of Cara’s weekly sales reports – ensuring this essential information is made available to the wider team as well as to our clients.

Grant joined the Cara team in 2022, bringing 15 years of travel industry experience with him. Much of this time was spent working for Virgin Atlantic Holidays, where he enjoyed roles in their Revenue Management, Product and Purchasing teams and looked after a variety of regions including the Caribbean, USA and Asia. Working as part of our Commercial Team, Grant is responsible for implementing revenue management strategies in the UK & European markets for a selection of our clients’ resorts in the Mexican Caribbean. Having built up excellent relationships with each of their on-property sales teams, he works closely with them to increase revenue, maximise ADR and grow market share by delivering rate strategies that are both impactful and relevant to each property, market and individual tour operator partner.

Grant’s passion for the travel industry shines through in everything he does, and his commitment to our clients is a clear example of this. When it comes to Mexico, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who knows its resort product better than he does!

Originally from Latvia, Karlis pursued his passion for hospitality by studying International Hotel Management in Switzerland. Following this, he gained valuable experience in the industry – notably working as part of the Food & Beverage team at the prestigious Rosewood London.

Karlis joined the Cara team in 2022. As one of our Commercial Executives, he is actively involved in shaping the revenue management strategies for our clients’ resorts in Jamaica, St. Lucia, Mexican Pacific & Latin America. His key responsibilities include analysing statistical reports, managing annual contracts, negotiating promotional and pricing strategies and overseeing inventory management on behalf our clients.

With a strong grasp of numbers and an analytical mind, Karlis has become a valued member of the team and works tirelessly to grow our clients’ revenue, ADR and market share across the UK & European markets.

Claire joined the Cara team in 2023 and brings with her a wealth of industry experience, most notably her 20 years spent at B2B tour operator, Funway Holidays, where she worked in multiple areas of the business – progressing from Accounts Assistant to Head of Customer Service. In her current role, Claire contributes to the rollout of our commercial strategy across our clients’ resorts in the Mexican Caribbean – checking and issuing contracts and promotions, creating competitor pricing reports and investigating rate discrepancies on behalf of our clients, to name but a few of her tasks and responsibilities.

Fluent in British Sign Language and a dedicated ambassador to promoting inclusivity in the workplace, Claire has quickly become a valued member of both our Commercial and wider team.

Martina joined the team in 2018 after completing a university degree in Economics with Banking. Initially in the role of Office & Executive Assistant, she supported our leadership team with responsibility for administrating accounts, payments, invoicing, and managing the smooth running of the office. In 2019, she was promoted to Commercial Executive and now contributes to the revenue management strategy of our clients’ resorts in the Dominican Republic, Curacao and St Martin.

Each year we partner with Kingston University and invite one of their students to join the team at Cara for 12 months. Niles joined us in the summer of 2023 after completing a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Having worked as a part-time Marketing Assistant and Academic Mentor during his studies, he is now using his year-in-industry to gain additional experience as he pursues his MBA in Business Administration.

Niles provides vital support to our Commercial Team, ensuring the administration around contracts and promotions is carried out to the highest standard as part of the implementation of our revenue management strategies. He also ensures that key internal resources and documents are kept fully up-to-date, allowing our team to rely on these as they work to deliver excellent results for our clients.

A native of New York City, Niles brings a “can-do” attitude to the office each day and has quickly become an invaluable member of our wider team.

Anna joined Cara in 2022 and brought with her over 30 years of valuable travel industry experience. Most recently she’d spent 8 years working as a Personal Travel Agent under Midcounties Co-op Travel, and before that she spent time at Abercrombie & Kent and Finnair.

Responsible for the day-to-day running of Cara HQ, Anna’s responsibilities are varied and range from booking the team’s staff travel, processing marketing invoices and general company payments, monitoring and reconciling staff expenses, answering incoming phone calls, and general office administration.

Universally popular, Anna is the beating heart of Cara's office life and provides essential support for the wider team, allowing them to stay proactive and remain focussed on delivering profitable results for our clients.
